Hello all!

My name is Yazleen Alonso and I am the Administrative Consultant for the Financial Wellness Program (FWP). My hometown is Perris, CA and I completed my undergrad at UCR (Go Highlanders!). I am honored and excited to be a part of the Bruin and FWP family. Some of my duties as the MSA Graduate Intern include: providing support to the undergraduate and graduate peer coaches, having one-on-one coaching hours at the Student Loans Office, and facilitating bi-weekly financial coaching hours at the Undocumented Students Program office. I joined FWP because I am passionate about working with students and equipping them with the financial knowledge to navigate the issues around social class identity. Reflecting on my undergraduate experience, it would have been beneficial to have had a program like FWP teach me healthy financial habits that I could carry throughout college and beyond. FWP is an amazing resource that I highly encourage all students to take advantage of during their time here at UCLA. One fun fact about me is that during my second year in college, I had the opportunity to meet Laverne Cox (star of Orange Is the New Black) and sit across the table from her. However, I was too star-struck and the only thing I said to her was my name.
